All I Want for Christmas: THIS CAMERA!

Yesterday, I posted this to my Wishing True blog - but I thought I'd share it here as well.

Have you seen the new Lytro camera?

You can get full details on the science behind it (light field mumbo jumbo) on the website. But putting theory into practice, the user can take a picture and then play around with the focus later. Here are examples of two pictures focused two different ways AFTER the image was captured:

The perfect camera for a regular Joes who are never going to become serious photographers with all of the lenses and technical training. And particularly good for events or action that you don't want to miss while fiddling with camera settings.

While I love my "real" camera and do want to learn how to do more with it - this little guy would come in pretty handy for on the go - every day picture snapping.

Now I'm curious to hear what users think...

California Color

Sorry for going MIA for for so long, but my computer died the night of July Fourth. Meaning that I can't use it (I'm on our tiny netbook right now) and most of my Style Key West picture files are now GONE! Hopefully my computer guru friend can help, but it's not looking promising.

So basically I've been in mourning...and then on vacation!

Here are some shots of beach color from our trip to San Diego last week.

We spent 99.9% of our time at the house, so no town shots - though there are some super cute areas I would love to have explored more...

I'll be back in a day or two with details on the new store location (we're moving over a few blocks to a FABULOUS space and location).

Hope you're having a great week!

Monday Color (Late Again...)

It's officially summer in our house now. The school year is ending. And I made the insane decision to unplug the TV for the next couple of months and tell the kids it's broken.

I have my reasons for this of course - ones I'll talk about on The Big Piece of Cake - but an indisputable consequence will be a significant decrease in computer time for me (as if it was "significant" to begin with).

And as a case in point, I wrote the above text on Sunday night!

Luckily - this is a website that pays homage to color and I have a bit of inspiration outside my door right now. It's early summer so the flowers are still blooming everywhere. Here are some shots from my garden (okay and that of a neighbor or two):

I know - that last one is a weed... But I remember thinking they were so pretty when I was a little girl. I'd gather as many as I could find for mini-bouquets.

And peonies are in season! So here is what I have on my dining room table:

"My signature colors are blush and bashful..."

I'll be back tomorrow with those pictures I promised in my last post about the low-budget/low-skill level DIY project.
