Elle Decor's 5 Designers to Watch: Marie Turner

After looking at the designers selected by Elle Decor as the top 25 of 2010 (see Parts I-VIII for images), we started on the list of their five "to watch." And last week, we last posted images from Katie Lydon.

The last of the five is Marie Turner, whom Elle Decor describes as "Part of the bicoastal mother-and-two-daughters firm M. Elle Design, Turner trained at Christie's and with David Collins in London, giving her a strong background in Continental style. Her serene rooms are dappled with discreet pops of color, Hollywood Regency accents, and intriguing custom made furniture."

The website's portfolio is currently under construction, but I was able to pull these images from the home page:

So elegant... The styling is perfect. And of course we love the seashells! What do you think?

And we are DONE! I knew it would take a while to get through all of those designers, but it feels like more than 13 posts. As I said the other week though, it was an excellent exercise in expanding my horizons, considering new perspectives and hopefully evolving my own design aesthetic. I highly recommend this kind of research for anyone who is about to decorate or re-decorate their home. My head is spinning with ideas. Now if only I could come up with some extra money to spend on them!

Elle Decor's 5 Designers to Watch: Katie Lydon

Last week, we finished looking at the designers selected by Elle Decor as the top 25 of 2010 (see Parts I-VIII for images). But there are five more that they featured as the ones to watch. We last posted images from Grant K. Gibson.

The fourth of the five is Katie Lydon, whom Elle Decor describes as "modern, sassy, and occasionally retro, the interiors of Katie Lydon have a coolly contemporary vibe - though she enriches their crispness with antiques..., vintage pieces by blue-chip names and striking modern art."

Beautifully designed spaces. The lovely antique furniture and captivating art pieces are very high end - but the fun accessories and splashes of animal print as well as the inviting sofas maintain the feeling of "home". What do you think?

Next week, we'll finish with the last on the list, Marie Turner.

Elle Decor's 5 Designers to Watch: Grant K. Gibson

Last week, we finished looking at the designers selected by Elle Decor as the top 25 of 2010 (see Parts I-VIII for images). But there are five more that they featured as the ones to watch. We last posted images from Oliver M. Furth's portfolio.

The third of the five is Grant K. Gibson, a San Francisco-based decorator and style blogger whom Elle Decor describes as "outfitting rooms with approachable, engaging style, whether the impact is Francophile flash...or tawny masculinity...His work is always eclectic, livable, and easy on the eyes."

A pure mix of comfort and elegance. Very clean lines and seating areas that look cozy but not cluttered. We love the mix of antiques and unexpected accessories. What do you think?

Later in the week, we'll continue with the next on the list, Katie Lydon.

Elle Decor's 5 Designers to Watch: Oliver M. Furth

Last week, we finished looking at the designers selected by Elle Decor as the top 25 of 2010 (see Parts I-VIII for images). But there are five more that they featured as the ones to watch. Yesterday we posted images from Jesse Carrier's portfolio.

The second of the five is Oliver M. Furth, whom Elle Decor describes as "thoroughly grounded in classical traditions, though he approaches them with aristo irreverence and West Coast optimism. Furth's inviting interiors go from suave and swank to colorful and cheeky, and often include reclaimed materials."

Rich colors matched with dark woods and collections (books, prints) hold the most appeal for me in this portfolio. What do you think?

Next, we'll continue with the third on the list, Grant K. Gibson.

Elle Decor's 5 Designers to Watch: Jesse Carrier

Last week, we finished looking at the designers selected by Elle Decor as the top 25 of 2010 (see Parts I-VIII for images). But there are five more that they featured as the ones to watch.

The first of these is Jesse Carrier, whom is described as having "cornered the market on clean, sunny interiors with an emphasis on warm, wide-ranging elements: bentwood pieces by Thonet, Robsjohn-Gibbings chairs, Robert Kime print fabrics. Clients include designer Jason Wu and editor Anna Wintour (her office and Vogue's lobby)."

What lovely comfortable spaces full of light and subtle color. Very clean and restful. What do you think?

Tomorrow, we'll continue with the next on the list, Oliver M. Furth.
