Snakes on...

...the Living Room Wall!

When I saw this image in Harper's Bazaar last year, it immediately went into my file of "what the what?!" And every time I see it I am struck with the same sense of incredulity.

I'm sorry - I know she is über chic and owns an iconic fashion label and would be entirely unimpressed with my tiny townhouse with its "work in progress" decor. But I cannot imagine living with that wall! It's terrifying. And would be a real complication when inviting over friends with snake phobias...

What do you think? Sleek and urban or over the top and vulgar? Or something else?

Bright, Beautiful Prints by Yana Beylinson

I discovered Yana Beylinson earlier in the year when Design*Sponge featured a gorgeous print she did of pomegranates.

I could spend hours pouring over her bold, yet elegant designs:

Yana describes her style as "feminine, organic and natural, but at the same time quite bright and bold."

The graphic quality of much of her work lends itself very well to pattern focused materials such as fabric and wallpaper. Which of course leads right into packaging... But I would be happy to just frame a piece and hang it in a corner that needs a splash of cheerful color.

Wouldn't this look darling in a children's room?

See more of her lovely work HERE.

Pinning

Of all of the various blogging/tweeting/favoriting social media-related activities that I've explored, the most addictive and least time consuming has been "pinning."

I set up my Pinterest account about a month ago. And by adding a "pin it" function to my tool bar, I was able to add and label images in seconds. SO much easier than saving pictures to folders (which I have to admit, I still do - but old habits are hard to break).

Here are some of my pins:

Not sure if Pinterest is still being beta tested (I had to wait a few days after requesting an "invitation")...but I definitely recommend joining! And of course following me (see blog sidebar...)

Monday Color: Wait - Didn't We Just...

...I know... I kind of did this on Friday. But now that I'm back to daily posting, I wanted to get back to my Monday Color posts.

Today, we shall bow down to red.

A bold start to the week!

A Little Color for Your Weekend

First? What happened to my last post?? It disappeared while Blogger was down. Then, when Blogger was back up, the post went back into edit mode and lost half if its formatting and spell check corrections I made. How is that even possible? And to add insult to injury, my comments disappeared. Anyway - moving on...

Here's some pretty for you!

Have a great weekend!

Open for Business...FINALLY!

When I said that we'd be launching the (much anticipated, long time coming, not sure if it was ever going to happen....) online shop in a week or so, I wasn't planning to drop off the map for over a month!

All of the work that went into the online store - which I started calling "data entry hell" - as well as the overall re-design - a big thank you to Fabulous K! - was a much longer process than we planned. But the end result is well worth it. What do you think? We're thrilled.

During my time underground, I took the kids down to Key West for a visit. This gave me a fantastic opportunity to visit the shop and take some pictures (not very good ones, with my iphone - but still...)

The rest of the trip was devoted to entertaining small children.

Thank god my parents have a pool!

I really love visiting Key West. I don't think I applied make up once (not conducive to hourly sunblock slatherings) or even attempted to blow dry my hair. Here is what I look like when I'm there:

Like I said, no make up, But I made up for it with EXTRA freckles and frizzy Florida hair (meaning my hair is frizzy in FL not that people in FL have frizzy hair!).

I'm already plotting my next trip back...perhaps without the kids! We'll see...

If you have this blog in your reader, please remember to update the feed. I'm no longer posting at the old blogspot. So change that to http://www.stylekeywestblog.com/

And drop by the online shop! I'd love to hear what you think.

A New Site and Some New Items!

Did you link here from stylekeywest.com today?

Well if you did, you will have seen that we have a new site coming soon! In fact, it should be live by April 8th.

The new site will include an online store, so anyone can visit us and do a little shopping, whether they're in Key West or Alaska. We're so excited about this new venture and we hope that you'll love our Key West inspired products as much as we do.

Here is a preview of what you'll find...

...And here are a few close up shots of some new pillows and mats we've started carrying in the shop (which you will also be able to purchase online):

I probably won't have time to post until the online shop is up and running. In the meantime...have a great weekend. Can't wait for the unveiling next week!
